Having spent some time in Cairo, we were looking forward to eating fresh fish in Alexandria. Unfortunately, the fish was the worst thing I've eaten in a long time! To make the best of it, we laughed and from then on compared all meals to the fish. Hence, the chocolate cake at Alexandria's Trianon Café was great! Better than the fish at least! The picture cannot capture the greatness of this cake. Layers of cake and frosting were topped with heavy chocolate, walnuts and pistachios.
The City Stars Mall in Cairo is the city's pride contrasting the traditional bazars. It offers various cakes alongside a lunch menu. The chocolate cheese cake tasted like a chesecake should and the chocolate topping just added to the delight.
In the attempt to understand the local youth's demand for western cafés and restaurants we spent and evening at Costa Coffee on Msadak Street in the more modern district Dokki. The place was packed with young Egyptians. The chocolate cake was a dream, even without the extra (!!) chocolate drizzel offered.

Isn't this a chocolate cake directory? Yes, it is. True, this is chocolate ice cream, but there is a reason I am posting this: this is really, really good chocolate ice cream. Probably one of the best I have eaten so far. Amazing chocolate flavour, sweet without the taste of pure sugar. Liked it :-)
It was Saturday night, I was out with a friend, having a fun time eating bad tapas. Suddenly there it was: craving for chocolate cake.
My cousin's fall wedding featured this lovely brown and green chocolate wedding cake, decorated with hand-made green marzipan apples. This homemade cake was frozen for transportation and the apples were added later.
