Having spent some time in Cairo, we were looking forward to eating fresh fish in Alexandria. Unfortunately, the fish was the worst thing I've eaten in a long time! To make the best of it, we laughed and from then on compared all meals to the fish. Hence, the chocolate cake at Alexandria's Trianon Café was great! Better than the fish at least! The picture cannot capture the greatness of this cake. Layers of cake and frosting were topped with heavy chocolate, walnuts and pistachios.
Founded in 1905 the café has not lost any of its colonial flair.
Location: Trianon Café, on the corner of Saad Zaghloul Square, Alexandria, Egypt.
